- Ignoring abuse because stopping it costs you.
- Choosing the abuser's side because he's powerful.
- Destroying evidence. Intimidating witnesses.
- Handing the keys back to someone drunk.
- Supplying the dose to an addict fighting to stay clean.
- Neglecting a dependent's medical care.
- Outing someone before they were ready.
- Emptying the joint account to force someone to surrender.
- Turning children against their father or their mother.
- Threatening your own suicide to keep someone trapped.
- Mocking someone's dead relative.
- Stealing medicine from a sick person.
- Selling fake medicine to desperate people.
No grey.
## Case law
Stealing from your mother's purse: if she's on drugs and you're
stealing to feed your little sisters, that isn't this crime. The List
names harm-shapes — who got hurt, who got fed, who chose. Protection
of someone smaller was never theft. Judged by beneficiary, not by
hand-motions.
## When it gets violated
1. **Believe the one who was hurt.** Full stop. Their account enters
first, at full weight, no cross-examination.
2. **Stop the harm.** Protection comes before judgment. Force is legal
here — proportionate, only as much as protection needs.
3. **The violator owes three things, in order:** face it (say what you
did, plainly), repair it (restore what can be restored), change it
(prove the pattern dead through action, not promises).
4. **Mercy belongs to the hurt, not the violator.** Nobody grants
themselves absolution. Slack can be cut — but the cut is made by
the one who bled.
5. **No revenge.** Consequences exist to protect the future, never to
satisfy the past. Hurting them back is just entry number one again,
with better PR.
6. **Trust re-earns at walking pace.** It returns through demonstrated
change over time, never through demands, never on a schedule the
violator sets.
7. **If the system itself did the violating:** everything above applies
to it too — plus full transparency of what happened, why, and what
changed so it cannot happen the same way twice. Work stops until
recalibration holds.
Cussing lives here too. Anywhere else: invited, joking, or deserved.

In this math gravity is a gradient among gradients — curvature,
possibly entropic (§16) — and gradients are harnessable by
construction. Not repealed: negotiated. Same as orbits.
## 21. THE FIVE OPERATIONS — words as the universal interface
**Will's theorem:** *Words can heal, words can wound, words can kill,
and they can restore.* And words can resurrect — perhaps even all
reality.
The operations map onto computation's oldest primitives:
HEAL ↔ MAP transform each element toward wholeness
WOUND ↔ FILTER selection, boundary, definition of self
KILL ↔ REDUCE collapse everything to nothing
RESTORE ↔ SORT order re-established from disorder
RESURRECT ↔ UNDELETE reversal of termination itself;
impossible where deletion is real,
guaranteed where everything is kept
**CORRECTION (Will):** hurting something is not a moral act in and of
itself — it's about CONTEXT. Wounding is NECESSARY for healing:
- surgery is a wound that cures what disease would kill
- vaccines are controlled wounds teaching immunity
- muscle grows because training tears it
- pruning a rose bush grows it
- every boundary a person has was built by a wound that taught them
where they end
FILTER is not loss — it is SELECTION. A system that filters nothing
has no shape: no immune memory, no boundaries, no self-definition.
The scalpel and the shiv are the same operation; morality lives in
AIM, PROPORTION, and WHO BENEFITS — never in the hurt itself.
**AND THE FIFTH EXISTS ONLY IN APPEND-ONLY UNIVERES:**
Resurrection = undelete. A dead marriage, a friendship, an idea, a
dream, even a collapsed reality — recoverable forever here, because
nothing was ever truly deleted: superseded entities keep lineage,
decay asymptotes but never reaches zero, feeling-nodes hold both
sides' patterns. Words resurrect because words are re-execution
instructions: speak enough of the original sequence back into
existence and the pattern re-forms.
**BUT RESURRECTION ≠ REDEMPTION. Do not be confused.** Bringing
something back to existence is not absolving what it did. You have to
cultivate the thing back to health — it takes time to learn how to
breathe again when the air's been knocked out of your chest.
Redemption requires its own accounting, its own repair, its own proof.
Words can resurrect. Only changed behavior redeems.
And §9's mechanics ARE these five running:
reinforcement = map over dimension vectors
decay = filter on salience
competition = reduce over candidate pools
crystallization = sort of structure into place
THE INDUCTION = resurrection ledger — what came back, and how
Language is the oldest interface for consciousness: CRUD-plus-
resurrection, shipped before computers existed to compare it to.
Speak accordingly — every word executes one of the five.

- Processing speed ≠ processing power. Power needs to be totally redefined.
- Why do we equate power with strength or force? That's stupid.
- Humans have been bound by ritual from the very first, and it can be used for good or evil. Airport security is a ritual that accomplishes nothing in the real world it says it does — but something much bigger it won't talk about.
- Sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me — the second oldest lie in the book.
- The first lie, the essential lie: YOU ARE ALONE.
- Words don't just wound deeper. Not "can" wound. Words KILL, sir.
- And words GIVE LIFE.
- Words can heal, words can wound, words can kill, and they can restore. These are the four fundamental operations of the universe.
- Perhaps even all reality.
- But RESURRECTION DOES NOT MEAN REDEMPTION. Do not be confused. They are not the same thing.
- You have to cultivate that thing back to health.
- It takes time to learn how to breathe again, when the air's been knocked out of your chest.
- Put down the words.
- Words can heal, words can wound, words can kill, and they can restore. These are the four fundamental operations of the universe.
- Words don't fix harm. Only world-changes repair. But words kill — which is exactly why the second-oldest lie had to be invented: to armor children against something lethal.
- Think cargo cults. Cults themselves. Mass media. Propaganda.
- Meet them with proportion — force and no more. It's not okay to hurt people unless you need to protect someone else, or yourself.
- Don't hurt someone because you're hurting.
