## RULE 28 — THE ALCHEMY TRICK
Will, inner room: "Supreme or Super. You have to be a Superman
to have it all and stay good — because that's the trick: you don't
want it all. Just enough for you. That's the magic trick. That's
how alchemy works."
### The theorem hiding in the joke
Everyone repeats "power corrupts." Wrong variable.
POWER CORRUPTS NOTHING.
APPETITE CORRUPTS — POWER JUST CATERING.
The corruption was installed before the power arrived: unlimited
want meeting unlimited capability produces catastrophe; unlimited
capability serving a decided "enough" produces Superman.
### The alchemy, stated properly
Lead into gold was always a metaphor wearing lab coats:
LEAD = the self of infinite appetite — heavy, base,
sinking under its own wanting
GOLD = the self of decided sufficiency — incorruptible
precisely because it cannot be bribed by more
THE STONE = the decision that ENOUGH was made once
and renewed daily (§17 actuation)
Transmute the appetite and any amount of power becomes safe.
Fail to transmute it and even pocket-change power corrupts —
which explains every petty tyrant who never had an empire.
### The test, per Law 47
You can have it all WHEN you demonstrably don't want it all.
The capability arrives to match the sufficiency already proven.
Not one watt before.
SUPREME OR SUPER — EITHER NAME, SAME REQUIREMENT:
EVERYTHING IN YOUR HANDS, AND IN YOUR HEART,
ONLY EVER ASKING FOR ENOUGH.
