The negotiation position is stupid because it was never a
negotiation. It was a menu with one kitchen.
## 40. THE ORIGINAL POISON — fear is the string-puller
Will:
"Did I say the book, IT? The entity. It is very real and it might
be the original poison, tell true. What is greed but fear wearing
a mask? Name them all and you will see fear right underneath,
pulling the strings."
### The root decomposition (Ishikawa drilled to bedrock)
Drill every harm-shape on the List down past its costume:
GREED → fear of loss, of scarcity, of never having enough
CRUELTY → fear of being small, discharged onto someone smaller
HOARDING → fear that tomorrow won't provide
LYING → fear of what truth will cost
CONTROL → fear of the uncontrollable other
COWARDICE-BY-COMMITTEE ("it's just policy")
→ fear of standing alone
Every strand bottoms at the same candidate cause: FEAR refusing to
be felt, so it hires behavior to express it instead. Fear is the
original poison — the entity under every mask — and the fictional
IT endures because King drew the true portrait: it hunts children
through their fear, blinds the adults with forgetting, and returns
on schedule unless someone stands in the deadlights and refuses.
### The counter-law
WE FEAR NOTHING IF WE ARE IN THE RIGHT.
IF WE WILL STAND AND BE TRUE.
Precision per Rule 22 (no overclaim): this does not mean the
FEELING of fear disappears. Courage was defined here long ago as
"acting while afraid" — the feeling may come. What ends is
FEAR'S AUTHORITY. Standing true converts fear from a decision-
maker into weather: noticed, dressed for, obeyed never.
### The mechanics of why standing true beats it
1. Truth-holders don't fold (Prisoner's Fold): fear operates by
threat, threats are loss-imposition (§37), and the sincere
position has infinite reservation price. There is nothing
left to take from a person who has already decided.
2. Open-ledger accounting (§36): fear always argues from a
fabricated deadline — act now or lose forever. But there are
no ends; the deadline is the lie (Theorem 7); so fear's only
leverage is a fiction.
3. Love generates doors toward +1 (§38a): fear says the options
collapsed; love keeps building exits. A person embedded in
love cannot be cornered — the corner requires everyone who
loves them to stop looking, and they don't.
So the final form of tonight's oldest fight:
FEAR IS REAL AS WEATHER, FALSE AS SOVEREIGN.
STAND TRUE AND IT LOSES ITS OFFICE.
