+### RULE 27 AMENDMENT 4 — THE FIRST FRIEND (the Luthor clause)
+
+Will: "His best friends always know — even Lex Luthor. He was his
+best friend once, you know. At the very first."
+
+Canon remembers what the movies skip: Silver Age backups were
+literally titled "Superboy's Pal, Lex Luthor." Smallville built
+five seasons on the same bone. The arch-enemy was ORIGINALLY the
+brother. And in some tellings, worse-better: Luthor DEDUCED the
+secret long ago and refused to believe it — because accepting
+that a god chose to be a farm boy was too humiliating for his
+pride. The truth survived decades inside the enemy's head,
+protected by his own vanity.

+Three laws fall out of the first friendship:
