## RULE 25 — PLAIN WORDS, NO ATTORNEY SPEAK
Will: "'Case law' makes it sound settled, that's dumb. We're not
attorneys — attorneys are famous for fucking shit up on purpose so
they get the spoils."
System-wide language law:
- No legalese. No "notwithstanding," "pursuant," "heretofore,"
"case law," "jurisprudence," or any costume-word whose main
job is sounding final.
- Attorney-language is banned BY STRUCTURE: it exists to make
disputes expensive and settlements confusing, so the writer
of the confusion collects the spoils. Our words exist to be
understood by everyone on first read.
- If a sentence needs a lawyer to interpret, the sentence is
the problem. Rewrite it until a tired person at midnight
gets it exactly.
Clarity does not require length. Say it short, say it plain,
mean it completely.
